Available Position: Communications Specialist
This position will be an essential part of the communications team and will assist with the planning, creation and distribution of digital content for the Texas Institute for Child & Family Wellbeing including social media, website and digital marketing campaigns related to TXPOP.
This is a grant-funded position and reassignment will be based on performance, progress toward research goals and continuation of funding.
Regularly writes and curates compelling, relevant, and high-quality content for Institute websites, newsletters, and social media channels.
Co-leads the creation, management and maintenance of the institute’s social media channels and institute websites.
Leads the content creation, development, and execution of the institute’s communications editorial calendar and assists in the implementation of the Institute’s communications strategic goals.
Assists communications team in creating and utilizing graphics, photography, video and dynamic digital storytelling to continually enhance communications channels.
Assists institute researchers in the writing and editing of research publications, grant proposals, presentations, and reports.
Works to build and maintain databases and listservs for newsletter recipients and project stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of related experience. Experience managing, writing and-or creating Search Engine Optimization (SEO) content for social media channels, marketing campaigns and websites for organizations concerned with social issues. Excellent communication, writing, and editing abilities, with knowledge of American Psychological Association (APA style) and Associated Press (AP) style. Extremely careful attention to details and accuracy. Experience using WordPress or other Content Management Systems (CMS) to maintain websites. Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions and take initiative, and comfortable working as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task and keep projects well-organized and on deadline. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a professional team, positive attitude, teachable and able to comply with policies, procedures and goals of the Texas Institute for Child and Family Wellbeing (TXICFW). Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Social Work, Psychology, or other social science. Knowledge and familiarity of social issues such as child welfare, adolescent health, child maltreatment prevention, immigration, education, and healthcare. Knowledge and familiarity of Adobe Creative Cloud software, Google and social media analytics.
