Children Exposed to Domestic Violence: Understanding the Community Service Response and Needs in Texas

Screen Shot 2021 08 19 at 1.41.02 PMChildren exposed to domestic violence need trauma-informed support in the aftermath of abuse, but child welfare and domestic violence agencies across Texas lack resources to provide consistent housing, childcare, and counseling services to families in crisis.

Researchers from the Texas Institute on Child & Family Wellbeing partnered with the UTMB Center for Violence Prevention to evaluate services provided to children and parents throughout the state. This report provides an overview of families’ needs and service availability, as well as recommendations for improving service provision for children exposed to domestic violence.
