Project Overview
The SAFE Alliance in Austin, TX, contracted with the Texas Institute for Child & Family Wellbeing to conduct an evaluation of the SAFE Futures program.
Background of SAFE Futures
The SAFE Futures program serves survivors of abuse and interpersonal violence and their families who are currently involved with the child welfare system. The program provides advocacy and parent education to increase safety, stability, and permanency for parents and their children. Additionally, SAFE Futures provides professional education and training to increase the capacity of the legal system and service providers to implement best practices when working with domestic violence survivors.
Project Purpose & Design
This evaluation will focus on the effectiveness of the program in reducing child welfare involvement and improving permanency outcomes for families. The evaluation will involve approximately 100 SAFE Futures clients from Travis County. The comparison group will include child welfare-involved families with indication of domestic violence from other counties in DFPS Region 7 that follow standard practices.
