Project Overview
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Family Health Services (FHS), must plan, develop, and administer a continuum-of-care system for at-risk families, as established by Senate Bill 24 of the 88th Legislature, Regular Session, 2023. As a part of this work, FHS will develop a comprehensive, up-to-date, and user-friendly online directory of programs and service providers to strengthen the continuum of care for families in Texas. FHS has contracted with the Texas Institute for Child & Family Wellbeing (TXICFW) to answer these questions to inform FHS online resource design and development:
- How do families and providers currently use and experience current HHSC online resources, and how well do they meet their needs?
- What online information do families and providers need to better connect to HHSC services and programs?
- What design and content improvements can be made to the FHS Texas Family Resources (TFR) website and directory to facilitate family engagement and utilization of HHSC services and facilitate program and service referrals among providers?
Project Background
TXICFW will provide the following services:
- Conduct a user experience evaluation of the existing TFR website through user feedback analysis, analytics audit, and heuristic evaluation.
- Conduct user interviews and usability tests with families, HHSC providers, and HHSC staff on resource needs, awareness, online information-seeking behaviors, and evaluate the TFR website and directory usability.
- Based on user research, develop and validate service and program information-seeking through task analysis.
- Design TFR online directory prototypes and test and refine through user interviews with families, HHSC providers, and HHSC staff.
- Provide design recommendations for the TFR online directory and recommend metrics to measure improvements.
- Provide directory marketing recommendations based on user research.
