Project Overview
The Texas Trio Project, led by TXICFW researchers Dr. Monica Faulkner and Dr. Beth Gerlach and sponsored by Texas Education Agency (TEA), sought to strengthen court, education and child welfare connections to improve educational outcomes for foster youth. The research team conducted a process evaluation and provided data-sharing recommendations, training and technical assistance and a survey of school district foster care liaisons. The Texas Trio Project developed a state plan and protocol for education and foster care collaborations as well as implemented a demonstration project in the Houston Independent School District.
