After surveying more than 200 Texas school social workers through the network in 2020, we found a need to provide tools and resources focused on supporting vulnerable students and families. Survey respondents cited a need for a range of tools and trainings, including:

  • Resources for non-English speaking students and families
  • Guidance on evidence-based interventions
  • Trauma-informed intervention trainings
  • Crisis response trainings

We focused this year’s survey on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Texas school social workers and the families and schools they serve. Our initial findings show that the pandemic introduced new stressors and exacerbated existing issues, but also provided opportunities for innovation. Stay tuned for our summary report in the coming months!
