Researchers at the School of Social Work, University of Texas at Austin are conducting the Texas Youth Permanency Study (TYPS) to understand experiences related to foster care and adoption. Researchers leading this study include Dr. Monica Faulkner, Dr. Tina Adkins, and Tymothy Belseth
Interviews and focus groups will be held this fall with young adults, 18 years of age and older, who have lived in foster care as teenagers. Young adults who participate in the TYPS survey and focus group discussion will be asked to share information about their experiences in foster care. The hope is that this study will help researchers understand factors related to permanency and transitioning out of foster care.
Surveying and focus groups will be coordinated so that they are held at locations convenient to most young adults. Surveys will take about 30 minutes and focus group discussions will last about two hours. To thank young adults for their time participating in the Texas Youth Permanency Study, they will receive a $30 gift card.
If you are interested in participating in a focus group, please contact the study’s Research Coordinator, Tymothy Belseth, who is coordinating the groups. Tymothy can be reached at 512-232-0647 or by email at tymothy.belseth@austin.utexas.edu
