Welcome to Jennifer Camacho, our new Research Coordinator!

Jennifer Camacho HeadshotWe recently caught up with Jennifer Camacho, MPH, MGPS, to learn more about her! Jennifer is joining TXICFW as a research coordinator. We are so excited to work with her!

Hi Jennifer! Tell us a little bit about  your past work.

I have worked at different research centers at The University of Texas at Austin and UTHealth School of Public Health. My previous work included roles as graduate research assistant, research associate and project coordinator. Most recently, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to a randomized controlled trial study aimed at improving asthma management outcomes among Latinx families in the Austin, TX area. Prior to graduate school, I worked (and volunteered) in the nonprofit sector, particularly in immigration policy, global health and disaster relief efforts.

What excites you or interests you most about the work you do?

I am thrilled at the opportunity to work at an institute that advocates for families and children, and is dedicated to strengthening systems to support their well-being. I enjoy the research process and value the opportunity to work with a diverse group of knowledgeable coworkers!

What is something you hope to achieve in your career?

I want to help others get into program evaluation and research. As a first-generation Mexican-American with no relatives in research or academia, my journey to becoming an evaluator has been long but rewarding. I’d love to support others with networking, skill-building, and become a resource for others. I also wish to contribute to research that improves the quality of life of underrepresented and vulnerable populations throughout my career.

What are some of your personal hobbies?

I enjoy playing board games with friends, playing Overcooked, listening to podcasts, and going on walks with my dog!
