HGTX Training: Understanding Trauma

Join the Heart Galleries of Texas for their post-permanency best practice training on understanding the impact of trauma.

This 2-hour training will provide knowledge and skills in best practices for working with children and families in foster care, adoption, and guardianship.

This training is open to child welfare professionals working with families in foster care and adoption. This might include professionals working for the Department of Family and Protective Services, Single Source Continuum Contractors, CASA, post permanency agencies, child placing agencies and those providing mental health services.

Objectives:

  • Develop a basic understanding of brain development.
  • Recognize the impact trauma has on children and families.
  • Apply knowledge of trauma to better engage with the children and families you engage with.

  • Samantha Thompson, LCSW-S – Senior Program Coordinator, Texas Institute for Child & Family Wellbeing
  • Samantha MacCallon, LPC-S, NM Community Coordinator, Texas Institute for Child & Family Wellbeing

2 CEUs will be provided for this training. In order to receive CEUs we ask that you are an active participant by having your camera on and fully participate during the 2 hours.
