Welcome to Cara Fox, Heart Galleries of Texas Coordinator!

Cara Cropped HeadshotWe recently caught up with Cara Fox to learn more about her! Cara is joining TXICFW as our Heart Galleries of Texas Coordinator. We are so excited to work with her!

Hi Cara! Tell us a little bit about  your past work.

I started working with families involved with the child welfare system in college, and it’s always been my primary area of passion. I’ve had the opportunity to work in in a variety of capacities in this field across multiple states, with roles at CPS, child placing agencies, advocacy groups, professional associations, and in volunteer capacities.

What excites you or interests you most about the work you do?

Replicating a proven model across the state so that more children waiting for adoption have the opportunity to find positive permanency that works for them.

What is something you hope to achieve in your career?

I’m still in touch with some of the young people (now adults!) that I got to work with at my very first full-time job, when I was a recent college graduate and they were aging out of the foster care system. It brings me so much happiness to see how well they’re doing—the families they’ve built, their professional accomplishments, and the way they are cycle breakers. I want to do work that continues to support that for today’s kids.

What are some of your personal hobbies?

When I’m not trying to keep up with my three teenage boys, I love to run, read and travel.
